The session was characterized by its dynamism and the presentation of radical ideas for the legal sector, all in an environment 100% virtual showing that it is possible to generate spaces of value for the entire Latin American community in times like the present.
The session began with the presentation of Hector Roldan, CEO & Founder in Simple Consulting, who invited us to visualize the speed with which the changes are given and the role that the technology on this. It closed with seven key concepts to address the digital transformation:
- recognize the existence of a digital divide;
- digital transformation is a multi-dimensional process;
- the speed of change is exponential;
- Disruption;
- strategy and implementation;
- culture as (d) competitive advantage; and
- Ambidic leadership.
Janet Huerta, Founder of Digital Lawyer, Academy of Innovation, addressed digital transformation from the approach of disruption in the legal profession. He gave advice to address the challenges that technology imposes on the legal sector and emphasized that first of all we must do a process of self-knowledge, understand what talents and skills we have and from there see how the technology It can empower us. He also presented a scheme of the comprehensive vision of digital lawyerwhere the technology and data are combined to give rise to: Business of law, Law for Business, Law for technology and Technology for Law.
Closed the exhibition cycle Oscar Montezuma, Director in Niubox Legalwho presented the changes in the models of legal services. He left showing a map of initiatives new law and legaltech of the region and as they are taking strength even in an incipient and conservative way. There is a predominance of softwars for the management of lawyers' firms and only 10% of the more than 400 initiatives collected are supported by artificial intelligence, blockchain and big data.
The director of Niubox, highlighted in his presentation the the importance of purpose as a source of innovation and indicated that from this approach the traditional model based simply on profitability should be questioned, as these have an exclusive focus on using the hours to generate renationability but those same hours are necessary to iterate innovation processes. Finally, the exhibitor called for a rethinking of time-selling models and encouraged attendees to design business models for purposes.
All the rapporteurs agreed that the fundamental factor in a process of digital transformation and innovation are people and that particularly in the legal sector lawyers are trained to maintain conservative positions, to speak difficult and that this is opposed to working as a team and to being close to the customer, so the challenge for the Latin American legal community and industry is even greater but at the same time urgent.
